I've come to love the vibrant depth of chalk pastels. Here are a few favorites. I drew them by hand, mostly using NuPastels on various kinds of paper. In some cases I digitally exaggerated contrast or color reversal of the scans. Click the thumbnails to see larger views, and use the navigation buttons on the larger views to traverse the collection.

Nupastels on quality paper; I inadvertently included the vendor's watermark as part of the drawing, in the lower center going rightwards. I digitally increased the contrast a little.

In a fit of abandon I ardently applied layer upon layer of black and white and gray until the newsprint paper turned mushy. Over many subsequent years I have enjoyed the result as much as the process.
