Linking Between Documents

Use the internal-link when linking between documents on the site.

The rich-text editor provides the means to create two kinds of links in your documents - internal (the chain-link button) and external (the globe button) links. It's important to use the internal-link method when linking between documents on the site for a few reasons:

  • Using the internal link machinery ensures that you hit the target - no chance of misspellings - and even enables you to link to distinct headings within the target document.
  • The system is configured to maintain internal links even when a target is renamed or relocated, so the site things can moved around without breaking links between them.
