I am a software developer and systems maintainer engaged by the challenges of making systems that people actually use, and fascinated with the ways that systems can support inter-personal collaboration and coordination.

I've been centrally involved in the design and development of several substantial, widely used applications, particularly open-source applications which support various kinds of group communication and collaboration. Some of those systems have been and/or are being used very widely, like GNU Mailman, the Zope issue trackers, and Emacs extensions that are included in distribution. I've also participated in research efforts like knowbots and the python grail browser, and contributed to the development of even more widely used programming infrastructure like Python and Zope.

See my CV for the full story.
